Jesus, Healer Of The Broken Hearted

God wants to surface our wounds so that He can bring restoration and healing to our soul. He will often surface a wound through situations that will activate the pain and discomfort of our insecurities and fears. Let me clarify something, I’m not saying that God will permit or cause pain. I’m saying that God will use a circumstance to unveil the fact that we are already hurting - there’s a difference. Once we spot the wound we can simply receive the Father’s love in that area of our hearts.

A lot of the time when we hear the words ‘inner healing’ we get freaked out because the term has been abused. Inner healing doesn’t have to be a painful process, nor does it have to be long and drawn out. God is bigger than that. We don’t have to climb the mighty mountain of inner healing, we can just fly above it on the wings of the Lord. The expectation needs to be that every time we bring a hurt to Daddy God that He will heal it. Not that He will heal it eventually, or that we have to contend for it, but that He will bring healing, peace and joy instantly. It isn’t God’s will for us to be in emotional distress and it isn’t His will for us to be pinned down because of insecurity and fear of rejection.

Here’s a scenario that provides a good example of how we can spot a wound and how we can begin to receive the love of the Father in our soul:

Say that you are praying with a group of friends and you begin to feel afraid to pray out loud. You start to feel an insecurity rising that says that your prayers don’t sound as good as what others are praying. When this happens, there are two things that you can do. You can either sit feeling insecure and frustrated, or you can begin to stand on the Word of God which says that your insecurities and fears were taken away on the cross.

If you choose the latter, your first step is to ask God why you are feeling insecure or fearful. Ask God what lies you are believing about yourself to make you feel this way. When Jesus as a child asked the Pharisees questions in the temple, He was modelling for us that it’s wise to ask questions (Luke 2:46-47). Every problem that we face, either internally or externally, can be a teaching to help us become more like Jesus if we choose to learn from it. Ask Holy Spirit questions. He isn’t intimidated by them. When we ask God questions we are positioning ourselves as students, and when we position ourselves to be His students we give Him authority to be our Teacher.

Once you have spotted what the lie is, you have found the root of why you are feeling the way that you are. The lie is no longer a hidden secret in the dark corners of your heart, it is instead naked and exposed for what it truly is.
